An introduction to real life as a migrant in Australia

Australia is a country with beautiful environment and numerous social welfare. Many people want to apply for immigration to Australia. Then what is the real life of Australian immigrants?

Here is a detailed introduction for you.

Australian people dress very casually, not to attend the formal places generally will not wear a suit, so as a passenger should also be light and casual clothing.

Chinese tourists like to laugh and talk loudly, but Australians need to be careful when they are in public. On planes, restaurants, trains, buses, subways, cinemas or shopping malls, Australians tend to talk quietly. Loud conversation will attract attention.

Australians will consciously queue up in public places. Sometimes they don’t queue up, but there are some differences. You should pay attention to how many people are in front of you at each place, and then wait patiently and consciously.

Dingfeng explained that when queuing in some places, such as banks or cash machines, it is important to keep a certain distance from the people in front of you.

Don’t spit, throw cigarette butts or litter. These behaviors can be reprimanded or fined in Australia.

Australia is blessed with a unique natural environment. There are many kinds of small animals and birds in the city. People here love small animals very much, and birds are protected by law.

Most of the stations in Australia are not checked by people, but occasionally there will be a train inspector, once found to have evaded the ticket, will be fined dozens of times the fare, and will be recorded, if repeat offenders may be revoked visa, and have no chance to go to Australia again.

Aboriginal people in Australia are more conservative and generally do not like tourists to take pictures of them. Therefore, do not take pictures secretly to avoid misunderstanding. In addition, where there is a “no pictures” sign, be sure not to take pictures.

Chinese tourists think foreign children are cute and often want to take pictures or touch and tease them.

First of all, the most famous city in Australia is Sydney.

Sydney is Australia’s largest city and a center of commerce, trade, finance, tourism and culture.

Sydney plays an important role in Australia’s national economy. The Reserve Bank of Australia and the Australian Stock Exchange are both located in Sydney, 39 of Australia’s 53 banks are headquartered in Sydney, and tens of thousands of world-famous companies have set up their corporate headquarters or branches in Sydney.

Next, let’s turn our eyes to the equally famous city of Melbourne.

Melbourne is the second largest city in Australia. It is the capital of Victoria state and the industrial capital of Australia.

Melbourne is famous for its rich cultural atmosphere, greenery, fashion, food, entertainment and sports activities.

Melbourne is a vibrant and joyful city with a profound cultural heritage. It is known as the cultural capital of Australia. It has a splendid human history and is also the host city of many famous international sports events.

After Brisbane, we’ll explore Australia’s fastest growing city, Brisbane.

Brisbane is the third largest city in Australia and the commercial, political and cultural center of Queensland.

The Great Barrier Reef, Gold Coast and Brisbane have created world-class resort cities.

Brisbane is also the centre of Australia’s fastest growing region.

Brisbane is close to the Asia Pacific region and has excellent air and sea links with the region.

When you get a job in Australia, your employer will ask you for your personal tax number to report to the Australian Taxation Office.

You can also apply for a tax number before applying for a job. After arriving in Australia, you can call 132861 to inquire about the nearest tax office and take your passport to apply.

Apply for a National Health Card: New immigrants are entitled to free medical care upon arrival in Australia.

You can apply for a National Medical card after two weeks of entry.

Enquiries can be made at 132011.

Apply for driving licence: if you have a domestic driving licence, you can exercise the first three months in Australia.

Then go to the Road and Traffic Bureau and pick up a free traffic laws handbook (available in several languages, including Chinese).

After that, you can enjoy the traffic rules test (and practice test). The test language also includes Chinese, and the number of tests is unlimited.

Application for Family Supplement: Families with children can apply for family Supplement from Australian Social Welfare Department (families with annual income not more than 65,000 Australian dollars can apply, ranging from 50 to 300 dollars per fortnight).

Unemployment Benefit: New immigrants can’t claim unemployment benefits until two years after arriving in Australia.

Under special circumstances, you can apply for special security funds.

Employment Agency: You can register with the Employment Office of the Australian Centre Department and they will help you contact employment for free.

In addition to this there are various private, community or government agencies called job networks that help employment by providing services such as:

Job Search, Job Search Training, Intensive Assistance, New enterprise incentive scheme,
