The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) has announced the availability of a $10,000 scholarship for members seeking to further their education and pursue advanced degrees in the field of education leadership. This scholarship aims to support aspiring superintendents in overcoming financial barriers to completing their degree programs.
Applicants for the ALAS scholarship will be selected based on financial need and their personal statements, which must explain how an advanced degree will contribute to their professional goals and align with ALAS’s mission of serving Latino and other historically marginalized student populations. Additionally, applicants must submit a current resume and three letters of recommendation.
The scholarship is available exclusively to ALAS members who are either enrolled in or have been accepted to an advanced degree program. Interested individuals can apply by visiting the ALAS website at . The application deadline is June 15, 2025.
Ulysses Navarrete, Executive Director of ALAS, emphasized the importance of supporting leadership development, particularly for those aspiring to leadership roles in education. “ALAS provides leadership development for school and district leaders who serve Latino youth or other historically marginalized students. Too often, finances are a barrier for those seeking to complete their advanced degrees and move into leadership positions. This scholarship helps ease that financial burden,” Navarrete said.
The recipient of the scholarship will be recognized at the ALAS 22nd National Summit on Education, which will take place from October 14-18, 2025, in Chicago. This annual summit serves as the association’s flagship event, offering leadership development, networking, and advocacy opportunities for administrators in districts serving primarily Latino and other marginalized student populations.
The ALAS scholarship is part of the association’s broader efforts to support leadership development. In addition to the scholarship, ALAS offers leadership academies, networking events, and advocacy opportunities to help its members build the skills needed to lead in education.
