The UAE has announced an exemption from fines for Sudanese nationals residing in the country whose residency and entry permits have expired. This decision, aimed at easing the burden on individuals affected by Sudan’s ongoing crisis, will come into effect on May 19, 2025, and remain valid until December 31, 2025.
The initiative, issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), allows Sudanese nationals to regularize their immigration status through the ICP’s official digital platforms. This exemption is part of the UAE’s broader humanitarian efforts to support countries facing conflict and instability, such as Sudan, which has been embroiled in conflict since April 2023.
Sudan’s ongoing instability has led to a humanitarian crisis, with millions displaced due to the violent clashes between rival military factions. In light of this, the UAE has been one of the region’s most active contributors to humanitarian aid for Sudan. Past efforts have included airlifts of medical and food supplies and the construction of a field hospital in Chad near the Sudanese border.
By offering this visa fine exemption, the UAE demonstrates its commitment to humanitarian values, emphasizing tolerance, compassion, and solidarity with nations in distress. Sudanese nationals in the UAE are encouraged to take advantage of this amnesty by submitting renewal applications online within the designated period.
This move aligns with the UAE’s ongoing mission to strengthen the social and humanitarian well-being of its residents, highlighting the country’s continued support for those impacted by crisis situations.
