Meet Sonal Kapoor, Chief Commercial Officer at Prodigy Finance: Insights on Studying Abroad and Financial Challenges

The Ishan Uday Scholarship is a remarkable initiative aimed at empowering students from the North – Eastern region of India to pursue higher education. This scholarship not only provides financial support but also acts as a catalyst for the academic and personal growth of the beneficiaries. It opens up a world of opportunities for students who might otherwise face financial constraints in their educational journey.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Regional Requirement

To be eligible for the Ishan Uday Scholarship, the applicant must be a permanent resident of one of the eight North – Eastern states of India, namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. This regional focus ensures that the scholarship reaches those who are from the under – developed educational regions of the country.

2. Academic Qualifications

For undergraduate courses, the applicant should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks. This is a basic academic benchmark to ensure that the students have a certain level of academic proficiency.

For postgraduate courses, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university with at least 55% marks. The higher percentage requirement for postgraduate courses reflects the more advanced nature of the studies.

3. Income Limit

The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs. 4.5 lakh. This income limit is set to target students from economically weaker sections of the society who need financial assistance to continue their education. It helps in ensuring that the scholarship benefits those who truly need it.

Required Documents

1. Identity Proof

A valid Aadhaar card is the primary identity proof required for the application. It serves as a unique identifier for the applicant and is crucial for the verification process. If an Aadhaar card is not available, other government – issued identity proofs like a voter ID card or a passport can be submitted.

2. Academic Documents

For 10+2 pass – outs applying for undergraduate courses, the mark sheets and certificates of the 10th and 12th standard examinations are mandatory. These documents are used to verify the academic performance of the applicant.

For postgraduate applicants, along with the bachelor’s degree mark sheets and certificates, any relevant diploma or additional qualification certificates should also be provided. This gives a comprehensive view of the applicant’s educational background.

3. Income Certificate

An income certificate issued by a competent authority is essential. This certificate should clearly state the annual income of the applicant’s family. The authority could be a Tehsildar or any other government official authorized to issue such certificates. It helps in determining the financial eligibility of the applicant.

4. Domicile Certificate

A domicile certificate is required to prove that the applicant is a permanent resident of one of the North – Eastern states. This certificate is usually issued by the local revenue department of the respective state. It is a key document to ensure that the scholarship reaches the intended beneficiaries from the region.

Application Steps

1. Registration

The first step in applying for the Ishan Uday Scholarship is to visit the official website of the scholarship. The website provides all the necessary information and the application portal.
On the website, click on the ‘New Registration’ button. Fill in the required details such as name, email address, mobile number, and create a password. Make sure to use a valid email address and mobile number as all the communication regarding the application will be done through these channels.

2. Filling the Application Form

After successful registration, log in to the application portal using the credentials created during registration.

The application form will have several sections. Start with filling in the personal details like name, date of birth, gender, and address. Make sure to fill in accurate and complete information as any incorrect information might lead to the rejection of the application.

In the academic details section, enter the details of your educational qualifications, including the name of the school/college, year of passing, and marks obtained. Upload the scanned copies of the relevant academic documents as per the instructions.

Next, fill in the family details, including the names of family members, their occupations, and the annual family income. Upload the scanned copy of the income certificate in the specified format.

3. Submission of the Application

Once all the sections of the application form are filled and the required documents are uploaded, review the entire application carefully. Check for any errors or omissions.

After reviewing, click on the ‘Submit’ button. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation message on the screen and an email notification to the registered email address. Keep a record of the application number and the date of submission for future reference.

Selection Process

1. Initial Screening

After the submission of applications, the first step in the selection process is the initial screening. The authorities will check the applications for completeness and eligibility. Applications that do not meet the basic eligibility criteria or are incomplete in terms of required documents will be rejected at this stage.

2. Merit – Based Selection

Among the eligible applications, a merit list will be prepared based on the academic performance of the applicants. For undergraduate courses, the marks obtained in the 10+2 examination will be the primary criterion. For postgraduate courses, the marks in the bachelor’s degree will be considered.

The weightage given to academic performance might vary depending on the specific guidelines of the scholarship. In some cases, a certain percentage of weightage might also be given to other factors like extracurricular activities or community service, although academic performance remains the main determinant.

3. Verification

Once the merit list is prepared, the selected candidates will be called for document verification. The candidates will have to submit the original copies of all the documents that were uploaded during the application process. This is to ensure the authenticity of the information provided.

If any candidate fails to produce the original documents or if there are any discrepancies between the uploaded and the original documents, the candidate’s selection might be revoked.

Tips for a Successful Application

1. Start Early

Do not wait until the last minute to apply for the scholarship. Starting early gives you enough time to gather all the required documents, fill the application form carefully, and make any necessary corrections. It also helps in case there are any unforeseen issues like problems with document scanning or website glitches.

2. Be Accurate and Complete

When filling the application form, make sure to provide accurate and complete information. Any false information can lead to the rejection of the application. Double – check all the details before submission, especially the academic marks, income details, and personal information.

3. Keep Track of Deadlines

The Ishan Uday Scholarship has specific application deadlines. Mark these deadlines on your calendar and make sure to submit your application well before the deadline. Missing the deadline means you will not be considered for the scholarship.

4. Prepare Your Documents in Advance

Gather all the required documents well in advance. This includes getting the income certificate, domicile certificate, and academic certificates. Make sure the certificates are in the proper format and are signed and stamped by the relevant authorities.

Conclusion

The Ishan Uday Scholarship is a great opportunity for students from the North – Eastern region of India to pursue their higher education dreams. By understanding the eligibility criteria, preparing the required documents, following the application steps carefully, and being aware of the selection process, students can increase their chances of securing this scholarship. It is important to approach the application process with dedication and attention to detail. With the right preparation and effort, students can take a step closer to a brighter future through this scholarship.
