What is the transfer guide for American community colleges

A Community College, also known as a community college, is an institution of higher education that offers two years of primary education.

In addition to offering Associate Degrees, community colleges often offer Government Electronic Directory Services (GEDs), High School Degrees,

Technical Degrees and certificate programs. Some community colleges also offer a small number of 4-year Degrees.

Next, small make up here for you to introduce the specific situation in detail!

There are two common ways to transfer to a community college in the United States: 1. From a four-year College in the United States — to Another four-year College Freshmen and sophomores who have already studied at a four-year college in the United States transfer from their current four-year college to another four-year college.

Usually, this kind of transfer between four-year colleges is because the international student does not fit in, or is not satisfied with the living environment at the current school, and wants to move to a more satisfactory four-year college.

2. Two-year Community College in the United States – Four-year College students who have completed a two-year community college in the United States with an associate’s degree transfer from a two-year community college to another four-year college.

Students who transfer to a four-year university through a community college usually want to pursue an undergraduate degree or use a community college as a stepping stone to a more prestigious American institution.

Compared with directly applying to an American four-year university, applying to an American community college and then transferring to an American four-year university has the following advantages.

1. American community colleges are less expensive than four-year programs.

The cost of an undergraduate degree from a two-year community college plus a two-year four-year university is much lower than the cost of a four-year degree from an American university.

2. Students who are guaranteed or prefered admission to a prestigious US university can participate in a cooperative program between a community college and a four-year US university.

Many American community colleges sign Transfer Admission guarantees (TAG) or Transfer Admission agreements (TAA) with prestigious universities, and students who participate meet the transfer requirements of four-year colleges.

Will be guaranteed or preferential admission to prestigious American universities.

Each school has different admission requirements for applicants who transfer through a transfer agreement. For example, the TAG program at CAL Series only accepts students from community colleges in California.

So before choosing a transfer school, don’t forget to check to see if your community college has a partnership agreement with another U.S. four-year college.

Q1. What materials are required for a community college transfer application?

Most American universities require the same application materials for community college transfers as they do for regular transfers.

Common transfer application materials are: official high school transcripts (optional), graduation certificates (optional), letters of recommendation, personal statements, proof of property, college transcripts, etc.

Different schools have different requirements for transfer applicants. Students should check the application materials for transfer in advance.

Q2, through the transfer into the United States comprehensive university and directly enrolled in the university to get the diploma?

It’s exactly the same, there’s no difference, but the transcript will be different.

Parents may think that American companies don’t want community school students, but on the contrary, community college students are more experienced, able to recover from difficult situations, and able to succeed.

Q3, now the transfer policy is good, will there be emergencies behind, do not accept the transfer?

The transfer system in the United States is required by the government from state to state, and each state has different requirements.

The United States has a national Board of Education website, this website has each state transfer curriculum system, curriculum matching degree.

Associate’s degrees are all over the state.

Students can have more OPT opportunities than direct enrollment students.

Can increase the chance of internship.

There is a great deal of assurance.

In particular, schools in the California system have TAG registration agreements and will not simply refuse to accept transfers.
