The reasons why I chose to study business MBA in the US

The reasons why I chose to study business MBA in the US

According to the employment rate statistics of international students in some schools, the overall employment rate of international students is not very different from that of native American students, and even higher than the overall employment rate in some schools.

Most business school graduates choose to work for large multinational companies, which almost always have a global expansion bias, so it is sometimes better for international students.

What are the reasons why you choose to pursue a business MBA in the United States?

Studying in the United States is the dream of many Chinese students. The degree of competition for MBA in American universities is also extremely fierce, and the difficulty of applying is increasing year by year.

What American MBA programs are looking for, what qualities they look for, how admissions committees select students, and what their evaluation criteria are all of the most important to students.

Here’s why you want to study for an mba in the United States.

The Brand NameMBA degree is a stepping stone to enter American investment banks and consulting companies. More than 70% of the vice presidents or executives above the vice president level in American investment banks have MBA degrees.

Even when starting a business, venture capitalists often look for team members with top-notch Mbas.

Harvard Business School alumni account for more than 12% of Fortune 500 ceos in the US.

Most of the ceos of venture capital and private equity firms in the United States graduated from Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, University of Chicago and other business schools. If you start a business, you can call them as alumni.

The friend you’re in the same group with today could be the CEO of a company tomorrow, and they’re all part of your powerful network of resources.

The teaching model of business school emphasizes the recombination of practical experience and theoretical knowledge, and focuses on the cultivation of outstanding leaders with international and strategic vision.

According to the GMAC2002 Global MBA survey, the average annual income of applicants before studying MBA was USD 48,000, while the first salary after graduation was generally USD 75,000, an increase of 56%.

Whether you’re a real estate agent, engineer, doctor or local newspaper editor, an MBA can set you up for management positions, opening up new horizons and options for your career.

For aspiring entrepreneurs who worry that they don’t have the knowledge and skills to START a start-up company, the MBA will help you build a solid foundation, both in knowledge and experience, as well as in your network.

Studies show that the failure rate of start-ups started by MBA graduates is 50% lower than the average failure rate.

It is true that you can build your own business without an MBA and build capabilities over a long period of practical experience.

However, having an MBA will help you get promoted quickly. It will effectively combine your past work experience with theoretical knowledge, and expand your thinking and ability to analyze and judge problems in an all-round and systematic way, so that you can avoid many unnecessary mistakes and achieve your goals faster.

1. Breakthrough in Skills and Thinking The biggest benefit of MBA in Europe and America is the improvement of students’ soft skills, the most important of which is cross-cultural communication.

With economic globalization on the rise, learning to deal with people of different races is especially important.

Chinese education emphasizes the role of authority, while Western education focuses on giving play to students’ initiative.

An MBA liberates students to the limit.

The essence of an MBA is not that professors tell students how to run a business, but that students mature through competition and collaboration.

The truth is simple: entrepreneurs are not taught in the classroom, but in the marketplace.

Top MBA programs create exactly that kind of simulation.

In addition, there is a common misconception that American MBA students study abroad to improve their English.

Language improvement is a cumulative process, not a one – or two-year project.

Before going abroad to study MBA must be prepared in terms of language, and do not expect to learn English through MBA.

Overseas MBA programs are mostly in English, but such expensive investments are clearly not for English learning.

On the contrary, it is difficult to survive in an MBA program without adequate language preparation.

3. Be clear about why you want to study in the U.S. Good business schools will ask you this question over and over again.

Studying for an MBA in the US is not for everyone, just as investing in stocks is not for everyone.

If you are not the right person, studying for 10 years will not help.

Mbas tend to be people people and sensitive to business opportunities.

4. Career Planning This is an aspect that Chinese MBA students seldom consider.

Many people walk into business school feeling burned out and idle.

This is exactly what you should consider carefully before entering the university.

Otherwise there will be a great psychological gap after graduation!

American education advocates self-reliance, autonomy and self-help, which is quite different from China’s authority centered orientation.

An MBA is a training for adults who should think more about their own future rather than relying on the school.

5. Networking An important benefit of a full-time MBA is a close relationship with fellow students, which on-the-job study cannot match.

It’s hard to make friends in business, but it’s much easier to make friends in business school.

The reason is that back in school, there are fewer conflicts of interest.

For Chinese, studying abroad may be a chance to have more foreign friends.

Such relationships will be an important resource as Chinese companies go overseas.

Even in a self-striving place like America, circles matter.

1. There is a tendency among many Chinese students applying for an MBA in the US to either not attend a top 30 school or to attend a top 30 school.

But the reality is that there are a lot of Chinese applicants, but few of them can really succeed. Many people apply for four or five years without success, which makes them exhausted.

Although the GMAT scores of Chinese students have risen every year, from a low of 600 a decade ago to 780 and 790 today.

The applicant’s work background is also getting stronger.

But according to the two years of data, only 400 students from mainland China went to the top 30 schools each year, with each school accepting fewer than 15 students on average.

The odds that more than half of all applicants nationwide will focus on the Top30 schools are slim.

In addition, Chinese students have to compete with Chinese students who are already studying there.

For example, many Chinese students first went to the United States to study for a doctorate, and then struggled for several years to obtain a green card, the basic life has been easy.

They crave better pay and the first thing they think of is an MBA.

Most of these students graduated from prestigious universities in China, including Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Yale and Princeton.

They speak English well, write well, then take the initiative to go to school for interview.

These people are in the right place at the right time.

A college degree, a GMAT score, a letter of recommendation, Essays, or an interview would be hard to compete with.

If you say you are a general manager with strong work experience, almost all of the Top30 schools now require an interview, at least over the phone.

The purpose is to test your oral English and to test the truth about your work experience.

If he doubts your integrity, you won’t get a full GMAT.

Therefore, the range of school selection should be wide, do not just look at the brand of elite schools, and do not blindly believe the MBA ranking, different ranking methods lead to the final results of the great difference.

2. Many students believe that a GMAT score is not the most important thing, and that a 700 score is enough to apply to a top 10 school.

More important, they feel, are Essays, letters of recommendation and GPA.

But for Chinese students, in the past, many of the Chinese applicants had mixed materials: GPA fraud, work experience fraud, recommendation letters written by themselves and signed by others…

As a result, Americans’ trust in the material has diminished.

At this point, the GMAT score becomes the standard by which you and Americans are measured on the same scale, and by which they are sure that there is no moisture.

This shows the importance of the GMAT.

Last year, Chinese students who went to Wharton scored a minimum of 770 on the GMAT, with an average of 785.

A score of 700 is the minimum to be in the top 30.

3. There are many applicants who work as an accountant in China and have no management experience, but they are also willing to choose MBA courses.

But in practice, people with this background have little chance of applying to MBATop30, even if they have experience in foreign companies.

In fact, a more suitable major for them is a master’s degree in accounting.

This degree in the US is specially designed for CPA and costs only $40,000 for one year, while an MBA costs $80,000 for two years.

The point is that Mbas in the US are not easy to find jobs, because Mbas are designed to train management, not to get into management.
