How to Track UK Visa Status by GWF Number

in visa guides

If you have recently applied for a UK visa, you may be wondering how you can track the status of your application. Fortunately, it is relatively easy to do so using your Global Web Form (GWF) number. In this guide, we will take you through the process step-by-step, so you can stay up-to-date on the progress of your application.

Step 1: Find Your GWF Number

The first step in tracking your UK visa status is to locate your GWF number. This number is unique to your application and is assigned to you when you submit your online visa application. You should have received an email confirmation from UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) that includes your GWF number. If you cannot find this email, check your spam folder or look for it in your online account on the UKVI website.

Step 2: Visit the UKVI Website

Once you have your GWF number, visit the UKVI website at https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa. Here, you will be able to check the current status of your visa application. You will need to enter your GWF number, as well as your date of birth, and the visa application centre where you submitted your application.

Step 3: Check Your Status

After entering your information, you will be taken to a page that displays the current status of your visa application. There are several possible statuses that you may see:

Application Received:

Your application has been received by UKVI, but has not yet been processed.

Under Consideration:

Your application is currently being reviewed by a caseworker.

Decision Made:

A decision has been made on your application and you will receive further information soon.

Ready for Pick Up:

Your passport and other documents are available for you to collect from the visa application centre.

Dispatched:

Your passport and other documents have been dispatched and are on their way to you.

If your application has been refused, the status will be displayed as “Application Refused” and you will receive further information on why it was refused.

Step 4: Contact UKVI

If you have any questions about the status of your UK visa application, you can contact UKVI directly. The best way to do this is through the UKVI website, where you can find contact information for your local visa application centre. You can also use the website’s online chat service to speak with a UKVI representative.

Who is eligible for a visa?

The eligibility for a visa varies depending on the type of visa and the country you are applying to. Generally, a visa is a permission granted by a country to a foreign national to enter, stay or leave that country for a specific purpose and duration.

Some common types of visas include tourist visas, student visas, work visas, and permanent residency visas. Each type of visa may have different eligibility requirements such as meeting certain criteria related to age, education, work experience, language proficiency, financial resources and health status.

It’s important to research the specific visa requirements and application process for the country you are interested in visiting or moving to. You can find this information on the embassy or consulate website for that country.

In conclusion, tracking the status of your UK visa application by GWF number is a simple process that can help you stay up-to-date on the progress of your application. By following these steps, you can ensure that you are aware of any changes in your application status and avoid any unnecessary delays or complications.
