How many US citizens live in South Korea

According to data from the US Embassy in Seoul, there are approximately 136,000 US citizens living in South Korea as of 2021. This includes both US military personnel and civilian expats.

The largest population of US citizens in South Korea is made up of military personnel and their families, with around 28,500 stationed in the country as of 2021. They are primarily located at US military bases throughout the country, with the largest being in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.

Outside of the military population, there are still a significant number of US citizens living in South Korea. Many work in industries such as education, technology, and finance, and are drawn to the country’s vibrant culture, strong economy, and high standard of living.
