There are five public polytechnics in Singapore, which offer three-year professional courses. After graduation, students have the opportunity to enter a public university in Singapore, or choose to study at an Anglo-Australian university, or directly work in Singapore.

Chinese students cannot enter junior colleges (JCS) directly after the high school entrance examination.

Junior colleges (JCS) have to pass Singapore’s O-level examinations before they can apply.

The Singapore Cambridge O Level Examination is an annual unified examination jointly organized by the Ministry of Education of Singapore and the University of Cambridge Examinations Authority.

O level is the most widely used basic education system in the world and the main body of Singapore’s education system.

Candidates can apply for admission to junior colleges, polytechnics or Institutes of Technical Education in Singapore, or to junior colleges or pre-university programmes in Commonwealth countries overseas.

However, O level is a little difficult for Chinese students who have just finished the high school entrance examination. Therefore, it is recommended that students take O level preparatory classes first and then take the examination.
