The U.S. Embassy in Tunis is pleased to announce that the registration period for the 2025 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery is now open until 7 November 2023. The DV Lottery Program allows all citizens of Tunisia who have graduated from high school or are employed in an occupation requiring specialized training to register for a chance to apply for a U.S. immigrant visa. Registration is free. Individuals selected during the 2025 DV season must apply for and receive their immigrant visas by 30 September 2025. The online registration period for the 2025 DV Lottery will close at 12:00 noon Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5) on Tuesday, 7 November 2023.
The DV Lottery program makes up to 55,000 U.S. immigrant visas available worldwide each year to randomly selected applicants who meet strict eligibility requirements. The programme aims to diversify the immigrant population of the United States by selecting applicants from countries with low levels of immigration to the United States.
All DV Lottery applicants must print and retain their online confirmation page upon completion of their DV registration until at least 30 September 2025. From 4 May 2024, entrants will be able to use their unique confirmation number provided at registration to check their online entry status. The confirmation number is the only way to check if an entry has been selected. If selected, the entrant will also need their confirmation number to obtain visa application and appointment information. The unique confirmation number helps to protect DV applicants from fraud, malpractice and postal problems.
Unscrupulous visa facilitators have been known to offer to assist entrants with their entries, keep the confirmation number, and then demand more money or illegal activities in exchange for the confirmation number. To prevent fraud, applicants should ensure that they receive and retain the unique confirmation number at the time of entry or by completing the entry themselves. The U.S. Department of State never notifies applicants by mail, e-mail, or telephone of their DV selection or interview appointment.
US law allows only one primary entry per person during the registration period. Submission of more than one primary entry for an individual will disqualify all entries for that individual. Spouses may both enter as Primary Entrants and list each other as Eligible Family Members.
Important Note: Being selected for the 2025 DV programme makes individuals eligible to apply for a visa, but does NOT guarantee an interview or a visa. There is no charge to enter the DV lottery, but if your entry is selected, you will be required to pay the visa fee as part of your scheduled appointment. The US government will never ask you to pay in advance by cheque, money order or wire transfer.
